In the category of “Pop Rock”, Ignescent resides in Chicago, IL. First thing I noticed was the setup across their social media networks is really sloppy, nothing is keeping a very good flow which makes this a bit tedious for me.
The first track “Calling Out To You” starts off with some nice melodies and a solid drum track. The lyrics are pretty common so it’s extremely easy to understand, seems that the band is a Christian band according to the lyrics. The chorus to this song is extremely catchy can definitely tell why this was the first single off the album.
The guitarists and bassist don’t have anything that really makes them stand out, but they are solid players overall, just makes for a lackluster of an album. The drummer has a lot of power to him and I really enjoy it, and Jennifer has a really nice voice. Reminds me of a Flyleaf type sound, just without the whining under tones. I can really get into this album if there was a bit…more I suppose, it’s not bad but it could have a lot more to really make it shine.
“Ignescent EP” overall is a simple, powerful message, kind of album. In my opinion it lacks in a few places that could really make the album great. If you like easy going Christian rock, this is probably an album for you, however it’s not an album that would take up much room in my personal playlist.
